TK Kenyon graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop with an M.F.A. in fiction (Truman Capote Fellowship) and holds a Ph.D. in molecular virology, studying pathology and kinase kinetics of Varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox). Her postdoctoral research at the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research at the University of Pennsylvania involved tissue culture and transgenic models of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other neurodegenerative diseases. She has published five scholarly science papers in peer-reviewed journals and numerous non-fiction pieces. Six of her short fiction pieces have been published in literary journals, including New York Stories (Spring, 2005) and American Short Fiction (Summer, 2006).
